Musica Reale presents concerts by members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam in chamber ensembles of varying size and composition.

Due to circumstances beyond our control Musica Reale’s 2014 Festival in Montalcino has had to be cancelled. A dangerous situation has come to light in Teatro degli Astrusi.

During a recent routine examination of the theatre’s structure it was discovered that a key structural beam in the roof has split and is in danger of collapse. The repair and restoration of the theatre will take at least a year, during which time the theatre will remain closed for reasons of safety.

In the absence of a suitable alternative venue, we have decided to postpone the festival rather than offer a less than satisfying compromise.

This has been a difficult and painful decision but, with due consideration, is certainly for the best.

Musica Reale’s Festival will resume in 2015.

The dates have been tentatively fixed for the period between
5 and 12 July, 2015.

Please be patient and keep an eye on this space. Further details and developments will be posted immediately.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

Director, Musica Reale

“We had counted on fine musicianship, but this was beyond anything we could have imagined. We had expected to be moved by the music, but we were actually transported.
